Eight players between the Fresno State men’s and women’s basketball teams have announced their intent to transfer when the portal opens on April 8.
Juniors David Douglas Jr. and Jac Mani, along with freshmen Makhan Diouf, DeShawn Gory and Gasper Kocevar of the men’s basketball team, have announced their entries into the portal.
From the women’s basketball team, junior Avery Watkins, sophomore Danae Powell and local freshman Aloni Oliver announced their intent to transfer this offseason.
Gory had a breakout freshman season at Fresno State. He finished as the Bulldogs’ second leading scorer and earned an All-Mountain West honorable mention. He averaged 13 points and six rebounds per game.
Mani averaged six points per game this season at Fresno State, transferring to Fresno after spending three seasons at the University of California, Davis. He appeared in 26 games for the Bulldogs, including a 21-point performance against the University of California, San Diego on Nov. 12, 2025.
Diouf saw limited playing time during his tenure at Fresno State. Eligibility issues forced the four-star prospect to redshirt the 2024-25 season. He appeared in 18 games during the 2025-26 season.
Douglas Jr.’s tenure was cut short due to back-to-back seasons with serious injuries. He’s played just 24 games in the past two seasons due to injuries. Before his injury this season, he had played well in conference play with seven double-digit scoring performances and a last-second, game-tying 3-pointer during the Bulldogs’ comeback against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Kocevar ended his season with the Bulldogs with a season-high 14-point performance against Colorado State University in the opening round of the Mountain West Tournament. The center from Slovenia averaged three points per game during his freshman campaign with the Bulldogs.
With the transfer announcements, the Fresno State men’s basketball team is now expected to lose seven players, including the graduations of Jake Heidbreder and Cameron Faas.
The second-leading scorer for Fresno State women’s basketball, Danae Powell, averaged 12 points per game in her sophomore season for the Bulldogs. The Las Vegas native played in 61 games during her two years at Fresno State.
Avery Watkins played 50 games for the Bulldogs after transferring in from the University of Hawaii. She scored 16 points in the Bulldogs’ second-round loss to UNLV in the Mountain West Tournament.
Freshman Aloni Oliver played in 20 games for the Bulldogs this past season. The 5-foot-9-inch guard from Clovis scored a season-high seven points against the University of New Mexico on March 3.
The Fresno State women’s basketball team is expected to lose 10 players after the transfer announcements.
