Starting Aug. 20, Fresno State’s library will have “Bulldog hours” from Sunday through Thursday, 8-11 p.m., where only Fresno State students, faculty and staff who have an active Bulldog ID will be allowed entrance to the library.
“Bulldog hours” are in response to the increased number of incident reports and distractions within the last year, according to Fresno State Library News.
The library aims to “help enhance safety, reduce distractions, and ensure a secure, peaceful study environment for our Fresno State community,” the article says.
The normal services offered inside the library will still be active during these hours.

New students arriving at Fresno State are encouraged to obtain a Bulldog ID card in order to access certain areas of campus and utilize the benefits of being a student.
The Bulldog ID card brings many benefits to students, such as free Fresno Area Express (FAX) bus rides, discounted football tickets, laptop, tablets and other tech rentals through Tech Lending at the Fresno State library and entrance to the Student Recreation Center.
Once a student receives the ID, it is valid for the entirety of the student’s college career. It costs $5, but this price is included in tuition.
First-time students should have received an email with a personal link after attending the Dog Days orientation, which takes them to the online photo submission page.
Students who have not received an email or did not get an ID during their first semester are urged to send an email to Student Accounts for instructions. Otherwise, fill out the replacement card application if it was lost, stolen or damaged.
Fresno State requires that the mailing address in the Fresno State student portal is current and the selected photo for the Bulldog ID meets U.S. passport requirements. Failure to meet these requirements will result in a denial of ID approval.
Once the submission is approved, an email stating such will be sent, and the ID will be mailed to the student within seven business days. Students can choose to pick up their ID in person at the Joyal Administration Building in the south lobby.
