Former Fresno State interim Head Coach Tim Skipper has been named the head coach of the Cal Poly football team.
Skipper spent the 2025 season with the UCLA Bruins, starting the year as a special assistant to then Head Coach DeShaun Foster.
After starting the season 0-3, the Bruins opted to move on from Foster and elevated Skipper to interim head coach.
In nine games as the interim head coach, Skipper finished the season with a 3-6 record, which included a 42-37 upset against Penn State on Oct. 4.
The former Bulldog linebacker is now headed to San Luis Obispo to take over for a Mustang squad that finished in ninth place in the Big Sky Conference with a 4-8 overall record.
Two weeks after the Mustangs announced they would be moving on from Head Coach Paul Wulff, Skipper signed a five-year deal on Dec. 3.
This will be Skipper’s second stint in the Big Sky Conference, as he spent three seasons at Sacramento State as a defensive backs coach as well as the defensive coordinator.
During his time as the interim head coach for the Bulldogs and Bruins, Skipper amassed a 10-13 record and is 1-1 in bowl games.
