Students and community members can learn about the upcoming primary election and take part in a discussion at a VotingMatters event on Thursday. It will take place at 3 p.m. at Fresno City College’s Old Administration Building, Room 188.
Hosted by CalMatters, the nonpartisan event aims to bring people together to discuss local and statewide issues in a setting focused on conversation and understanding.
The event will focus on the 2026 primary election, including the governor’s race and other statewide offices. It will also guide attendees through how and when to vote, along with key details like registration deadlines, early voting options and ballot timelines.
The program will go over key election dates, include interactive trivia and feature small group discussions after short informational videos. Attendees will break into groups to talk through the topics, then come back together to share their thoughts.
Events in the VotingMatters series usually last about an hour to an hour and a half and sometimes include guest speakers who add context on local issues.
CalMatters created the VotingMatters series as part of a broader effort to make election information easier to access and more engaging for communities across the state.
Attendees will also be introduced to the CalMatters voter guide and other tools to help them stay informed ahead of the June 2 primary election.
