The Central Valley Collegiate Horse Sale will take place on April 11 at the Fresno State Quarter Horse Unit. Lunch will begin at noon, with the preview to follow and the auction beginning at 2 p.m.
Fresno State will have three horses in the auction: Fresno’s Little Apple, a 4-year-old bay gelding; FS Apple Lou Jacks, a 3-year-old bay gelding and FS Jetsalilichi, a 3-year-old sorrel gelding. All of these boys are broke to ride and ready to find a home.
Fresno State partnered with Reedley College, College of the Sequoias and Modesto Junior College to put on this event. All four schools will provide horses for the auction, along with outside consignment horses.
In equine breeding and reproduction classes, students get the opportunity to breed and care for broodmares and their foals. Students in the colt training classes then spent time riding and developing these horses, which are offered for sale.
These horses are bred, raised and trained by students every step of the way. The Quarter Horse Unit provides hands-on experience with training and breeding programs that prepare students for jobs in the equine industry.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Fresno State’s equine science program and its students.
