Opinion

A bad vegetarian

By Timothy Ellison Nov 16, 2007
I ORDERED THE NO. 3 platter at The Old Spaghetti Factory last Friday and the waitress responded with a wry smile, “The meat lover’s platter, sure.â€Â What did she say? A meat lover? Me? It felt dirty, especially since my girlfriend was sitting right next to me.

How has your diet changed since coming to college? Have you seen a difference in your weight?

Fat chance

By Benjamin Baxter Nov 14, 2007
I'M FAT. Local news stations like reminding me. I'm not alone, either. News of every flavor reminds me that it's an epidemic. That means you have it, too, or you will.

The One-Finger Salute

By Staff Reports Nov 14, 2007
Thumbs up to YouTube for letting us watch Fresno State linebacker Marcus Riley knock the snot out of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan — again and again and again. Brennan was one touchdown away from breaking the all-time NCAA record for touchdown passes, a record Riley ultimately may have stifled, as Brennan was forced to leave the game after the hit. It may be a small victory for the team, but we’ll take what we can get, especially considering the loss the team suffered on Saturday.

‘I got it from my momma’

By Julius Dion Bailey, Ph. D. Nov 14, 2007
MANY ACROSS AMERICA are singing the catchy pop tune "I Got it From My Momma" from Black Eyed Peas member Will.I.Am. As inviting as this song may be to our party consciousness, we can discern quite more from this factually-based lyric.

The Colbert Factor

By Kyle Lazarus Nov 9, 2007
Stephen Colbert will not be President. Now, thanks to the insanely-serious South Carolina Democratic Election Council, the Colbert Nation will not see him make a run at White House this year. Did Colbert have any chance of winning? No.

WEB-SPE@K: How do you like campus food?

By Staff Reports Nov 8, 2007
What are your thoughts on the general quality of food on campus, including the campus dining hall, the University Student Union, the Bucket and the various cafés scattered around campus? What about the selection of food available to students?

Oh, G.E.!

By Benjamin Baxter Nov 7, 2007
Students today don̢۪t seem to realize what being a student means. To wit: you complain about general education. I know I did. Given how many of us hate it so, it̢۪s rare that a comrade tries to set us straight.

Campus Speak

Registration begins Friday, Nov. 9. Are there any classes you̢۪re worried about getting into? Are there any classes you are just generally worried about for other reasons?

Fit to lead?

By Timothy Ellison Nov 5, 2007
RIGHT NOW MY roommates are watching “Braveheart.â€Â Meanwhile, I’m in my room reading stories about King Arthur in Tennyson’s “Idylls of the Kingâ€Â (for a class, I swear). Somewhere in this great country of ours, a group of people is having a discussion about who our next president should be. What do these three things have in common?

The One-Finger Salute

Thumbs up to the Bulldogs for their victory over the Utah State Aggies. We̢۪re glad the ̢۪Dogs are winning games they̢۪re supposed to win, especially after the hard loss the team suffered to the Boise State Broncos last weekend. We hope this win helps prepare the team for a tough game next weekend against the Hawaii Warriors.
