Three Fresno State men’s golfers have been named to the All-WAC second-team.

Seniors Jason Anthony and Jonny Rosa both received positions on the squad while Matt Shaw was named Freshman of the Year.

Both Anthony and Rosa captured individual tournament titles this season. Anthony tied for third at the WAC Championship and Rosa placed 25th.

“Both Jason and Jonny had great senior years and certainly are deserving of these all-conference awards,” head coach Mike Watney said in a press release. “I’m very happy they were honored in this way.”

Shaw, who finished 19th at the WAC Championship, qualified for 10 tournaments and his best finish came at the California tournament where he took 10th place.

“Matt’s the perfect example of a true class freshman,” Watney said. “I’m really looking forward to the next three years of him being a part of our program.”

The teams selected to take part in the NCAA West Regional competition will be announced early next week.

Fresno State sophomore Noelle Dukes earned the Reserve National Champion award for her performance at the IHSA National Championships in Harrisburg, Penn.

Dukes earned the second-place award in Novice English Equitation, ending her season on a high note and setting the table for another big season next year.

“This was a great way for Noelle to finish her season,” said head coach Becky Malmo. “She had a terrific season, capped with a second-place finish at the national championships. She’s worked very hard and we are expecting bigger and better things from her next season.”

Two other Bulldogs are also competing in the event. Morgan McDonald placed 9th in the English Equitation over Fences while Fresno State’s Becky Legris is scheduled to compete today.
