Women's Basketball Preview

Fresno State (24-7) at Kansas State (20-10)

Point Guard
Chantella Perera and Tierre Wilson have stepped up big for the Bulldogs as of late. Both led all scorers last Sunday with a 19-point outing against UNLV in the first round of the WNIT. Perera is a three-point threat while Wilson got most of her points on fast-break lay-ups and jumpers
Mirenda Swearengin was solid as usual for Fresno State against UNLV with 10 points and 11 assists. Kansas State, like the Bulldogs, share the ball well and average 16 assists per game. Claire Coggins led the Wildcats against Idaho State with 31 points.

Guards
The Wildcats can shoot. They shot 47 percent from the floor against Idaho State and were 8 of 17 from beyond the three-point line. All 10 players on the active roster scored against the Bengals. Fresno State offers something different with each guard. Jasmine Plummer can change the game with her defense. Tierre Wilson is instant offense, Toni Atherley can shoot from the outside and Faith Probst has been moved to a more natural two-guard position. Probst came off the bench against UNLV and was perfect from the field and the free-throw line to score 12 points.

Forwards
Kansas State is young in this position but they are effective. Against Idaho State in the WNIT first round, freshman center Joann Hamlin had 16 points while freshman forward Marlies Gipson led the Wildcats with a game-high 13 rebounds.
Both are good rebounding teams, averaging 37-plus rebounds a game but Fresno State holds the edge because of experience. Amy Parrish is capable of a double-double and Brittani Green provides a low-post presence and also a solid outside-shot option.
