French-Canadian author of textbooks and publisher of Francias d’Amerique, a French language newspaper with the largest circulation in the United States, retired after 25 years of journalism and is eager to share her views on the French media’s portrayal of the United States as part of the Arts and Humanities Lecture Series.
Marie Galanti wrote six textbooks on contemporary French civilization and describes herself as “a keen observer of evolving French and American relations,” and has written many articles in her publication on the topic. She will be sharing her knowledge and opinion on the topic today through her presentation titled “How the French Media Portray the U.S.” from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Smittcamp Alumni House.
Galanti earned a doctorate in French and a law degree in 2002 and has been dealing primarily with international transactions involving France ever since.
The government of Quebec honored her with its highest award, L’Ordre des Francophones d’ Amerique and the French government named her an Officer in the Order of Les Pamles Academiques in honor of her contributions to the promotion of the French language and culture, according to Galanti’s biography.
She recently returned from spending a month in Paris and said she is delighted to have an opportunity to share her observations with the members of the L’Alliance Francaise de Fresno, a campus group that embraces French culture, the students at Fresno State and the entire Fresno community.
The lecture series is free and parking will be provided in lots V and J.
