Boeh looking to move forward with complete staff on hand

One of the most pressing things on first-year athletic director Thomas Boeh’s agenda has been to fill two positions and finally have a full staff. This week, Boeh has been able to cross that off his to-do list, hiring Betsy Mosher and Paul Ladwig.

“We can start to create a plan,” Boeh said. “We can find out what our priorities are and how we’re going to get it together.”

Both Mosher and Ladwig were hired as associate athletics directors, with Mosher dealing with internal issues and Ladwig with external.

Mosher, the new senior associate athletics director for administration and program integrity, comes to Fresno State from the University of Massachusetts. There, she supervised the department’s compliance program, something Boeh hopes she can do successfully at Fresno State.

“Betsy has 30-plus years at several Division I institutions,” Boeh said. “We’ve had some issues with compliance. She’s going to clean up and evaluate where it’s necessary. Betsy brings in an immediate leadership.”

Paul Ladwig is the new associate athletics director for broadcasting and external relations. Ladwig is coming off a stint at Ohio University, where he directed 20 employees and built a staff of video, web site, satellite and news operators and created the Ohio Sports Network and produced the broadcast. Ladwig will be in charge of marketing, ticket sales, the Bulldog Shop, media relations and video services under Boeh.

“Paul’s not only going to help us in his position, but also at helping the institution tell its story,” Boeh said.
Mosher will start her duties in early October and Ladwig will begin in early November.

“We clearly needed leadership. Not that anyone was not performing,” Boeh said. “We’re trying to regain our reputation. We’ve suffered a little bit but now we’ll be able to start moving forward.”
