The Central California Blood Center will bring its final blood drive of the semester back to Fresno State, giving students another opportunity to donate. The three-day drive will take place April 14-16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Fresno State Library in Room 2206 and the Speakers’ Platform.
The blood drive is organized in partnership with Fresno State’s Jan and Bud Richter Center and is part of an ongoing effort to encourage students and staff to donate blood. Campus blood drives have become a recurring event at Fresno State, allowing students to participate without leaving campus.
Senior biology major Jocelyn Vasquez said donating blood can have a direct impact on people in need.
“Being able to donate blood is more important than ever because of the ongoing blood shortage,” Vasquez said. “When you donate blood, you can help save someone. Since blood cannot be made in a lab, those of us who are able to donate should come together to support others in need.”
Students who donate will receive a voucher for a free drink from Dutch Bros as well as an exclusive sticker, while supplies last.
Blood drives on college campuses often make it easier for students to get involved in community service. By hosting the drive at the library, organizers hope to make donating convenient for students between classes.
Participants are encouraged to sign up ahead of time and complete the required health questionnaire through QuickPass on the day of their donation. Walk-ins are also accepted, depending on availability.
Students interested in donating can sign up through the Central California Blood Center or scan the QR code on the event flyer.
Additional information about the event and future blood donation events can be found on the Central California Blood Center’s Instagram.
