With the fall semester officially underway, Welcome Week is back at Fresno State, giving students a chance to get involved on campus.
Here’s a list of events happening Aug. 25-29.
Aug. 25:
On Monday, students are invited to Fresno State Get Involved’s Big Bulldog Welcome from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Gardens, located in front of the Kennel Bookstore. This event will feature free food, music, giveaways and more.
Aug. 26:
On Tuesday, students can Fuel 4 Fall with free coffee provided by Fresno City Councilmember Tyler Maxwell. This will take place from 9-11 a.m. in the Memorial Gardens.
From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., students can stop by the Student Health and Counseling Center’s open house to learn about resources available to them, pet therapy dogs, tour the center and enjoy free shaved ice from Kona Ice.
Later in the day, students can stop by Fresno State Get Involved’s Back to School Bowling Bash, featuring glow-in-the-dark bowling and billiards from 7-10 p.m. at the Bulldog Bowl.
Aug. 27:
On Wednesday, there will be a Community Service Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Memorial Gardens, where students can see what kind of service opportunities are available.
This will be followed by Traditions Day, also known as club rush, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the University Student Union balcony. Traditions Day gives students a chance to browse through and sign up for clubs and organizations on campus.
To end the day, there will be a Redwave Takeover at Dave & Buster’s from 6-10 p.m. There, students can get a free $10 game card, enjoy half-off games, food specials, prize drawings and more.
Aug. 28:
On Thursday at 6:50 p.m., the Fresno Grizzlies will host Fresno State Night at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased here.
Aug. 29:
Tunes at Noon will return this semester. This session will feature music from DJ Nayte Joon from 12-1 p.m. in the USU pit.
To end the week’s activities, students can visit the Bulldog Cinema for a screening of “How to Train Your Dragon” at 8:15 p.m. on the Resnick Student Union south lawn.
