A dominant performance in single’s play helped No. 24 Fresno State cruise past No. 13 Pepperdine 5-2 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs bounced back after losing doubles play to win five of the six singles matches.

Sophomore Melanie Gloria defeated No. 22 Bianca Dulgheru in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

The win moved Gloria, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, to 3-1 in dual matches on the season.

Fresno State’s Renata Kucerkova and Tinesta Rowe both won their matches in three sets.

Rowe recovered from a 4-6 second set loss by defeating Katia Sabate in a thrilling tiebreaker in the final set to clinch the match 7-5, 4-6, (10-5).

Freshman Renata Kucerkova got off to a slow start, but after staving off defeat in a second set tiebreaker, she overpowered Sylvia Kosakowski in the final set to take the match 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.

The win improved Fresno State’s record to 3-2 as the team prepares for the University of Nevada Las Vegas tournament next week.
