• Equestrian
Fresno State’s equestrian team won the Western Regional Championship, defeating Stanford for the title. The Bulldogs’s Heidi Smith placed first in Open Western Horsemanship and was the High Point Western Rider.

The Bulldogs also finished second to Stanford in the English division, with Morgan McDonald and Amy Simmons both qualifying for Regional Championships.

• Track and Field
Fresno State is set to host the Cal-Nevada Championships this week. The event runs on Friday and Saturday.

Last year, the Bulldog men’s team earned 146.5 points for a second-place finish to champion Cal State Northridge. Fresno State is coming off a dual-meet victory at Mt. San Antonio College, giving them some momentum for the event.

• Women’s Golf
The Fresno State women’s golf team shot rounds of 311, 309 and 312 at the Oregon Duck Invitational, good enough for fifth place. Sophomore Laura Luethke tied for third place with a 222 total after shooting a 71, 74 and 77 respectively. She missed the individual playoff by one stroke.

“Laura was disappointed that she didn’t make it to the playoff, but she is gaining momentum and is definitely having a good spring season,” head coach Angie Cates said.

With the finish, Luethke earned her fourth top-10 finish of the year.

Fresno State third baseman Haley Perkins has been rock solid both in the field and with her bat.

•Men’s Golf
Jason Anthony and Brian Kelley each finished in the top 20 Tuesday at Arizona’s National Invitational Tournament. Anthony ended in a tie for seventh with an overall 4-under 212. As a team, the Bulldogs finished 14th. “Top 20 is really an accomplishment here,” Watney said. “It was his best overall score on the year. He shot rounds of 70, 73 and 72.”

•Softball
In anticipation of rain Tuesday, Fresno State’s game with Santa Clara was pushed back to today. The No. 23 Bulldogs (20-13, 2-1) will play a double-header against the Broncos (11-20) beginning at 6 p.m. Fresno State has won 10 of its last 14 games, including 2 of 3 from Nevada in its first WAC series.
