Women's Basketball Preview

Fresno State (20-6, 12-12) vs. Utah State (3-21, 3-12)

Point Guard
Utah State is a puzzling question. Against the Aggies in Logan, Utah, the Bulldogs won by only two points. Also, Utah State has a victory against a team that the Bulldogs lost to — a 74-51 win over Utah Valley State. Last time out, Mirenda Swearengin nearly went for a double-double, scoring 12 points to go with 9 rebounds. With the Aggies visiting Fresno this time around, look for the Bulldog backups to see a little more time than usual. Utah State is 1-10 on the road this season.
Both Danyelle Snelgro and Camille Brox are both capable of playing point guard, but neither is averaging even 5 points per game. Both guards also average nearly 3 rebounds.

Guards
Fresno State’s Tierre Wilson is a scoring force off the bench. It is amazing how content Jasmine Plummer is with her lack of shots on offense. Regardless, her lock down ability on defense is a major factor in how well the Bulldogs have performed this season. Chantella Perera has had a heck of a second half of the season and is now averaging 11.8 points per game and three assists per game.
Because of the Aggies’ struggles this season, head coach Raegan Pebley has had to shuffle the lineup in order to find a winning combination. In the last meeting between the two teams, Taylor Richards missed a potential over-time forcing shot.

Forwards
The Bulldogs’ Amy Parrish is coming off a 24-point performance against Boise State, were the Bulldogs came away with a 10-point victory. Head coach Adrian Wiggins will likely rotate his forwards, including starter Brittani Green, based on how they perform defensively in the paint. Erica Henry and Faith Probst are the first two off the bench if that scenario should arise.
The Aggies are likely to start to players who stand 6-foot-2 in Jenny Gross and Jessica Freeman. Although inconsistent, both players can rebound inside and are capable of a breakout game at any time. Freeman averages 8.8 points per game.
