The Fresno State men’s tennis team managed to maintain its perfect record with a 5-2 victory over the Santa Clara Broncos at home on Sunday.

The Bulldogs improved to five wins and zero losses for the season while the Broncos fell to five wins and four losses.

Fresno State opened the day with good performances from all players, sweeping all three of their doubles matches. Seniors Sam Gibbs and Sergio Modoc successfully defended their perfect record for the season.

In singles, the Bulldogs won all four of their matches convincingly with junior Jakub Cech improving to a perfect 4-0 record for the season.

“This was definitely our best performance of the year so far,” head coach Jay Udwadia said in a press release regarding the match. “We keep on improving and I’m proud of the way our guys started out today’s match with energy and aggressiveness. But our schedule doesn’t get an easier from here.”

The Bulldogs will play again this week when they take on the Cal State Bears at Berkeley.

Fresno State is ranked No. 67 following the victory over Santa Clara.
