AS student affairs senator says AS for the students

Associated Students senator Stephen Trembley said student government exists for benefit of the student body.

“It’s dollars out of their wallets that students pay to make their college experience more enjoyable,” Trembley said.

The sophomore is the student affairs senator, a post covering a wide variety of student concerns.

Of the responsibilities that falls under student affairs senator is assisting students with problems they might have, and being available to listen to any ideas that students might have to improve life on campus.

“We have to find ways to get everything out so that no one can really say they don’t know what the AS does,” Trembley said.

Among the developments Trembley would like to see available for students are a 24-hour study center and more jobs on campus. He believes that the new Recreation Center, scheduled to open Feb. 3, as a great job opportunity for students, especially those without a car.

Trembley also wants students to know how to get what they are paying for.

“Students pay for 2,000 tickets for games that have never been used in their entirety,” Trembley said.

He would like to remind the student body that entrance into all Fresno State games is free to students, with the exception of football, and getting in as easy as showing your student ID card at the door.

Above all, Trembley wants students to know that the job of the AS is to serve them, and he wishes to keep the line of communication open and clear.

“That’s one of the reasons I wanted to be on the Senate,” said. “There’s a lot of misinformation and confusion about what the AS does and can do for students.”
