Mascots' 'dogfight' turns attention away from game

Mock fight between Fresno State's Timeout and LA Tech's mascot Champ turns ugly, riles up fans

Fresno State mascot Timeout took out Champ of Louisiana Tech as fans erupted.

Bulldog fans didn’t have much to cheer about when their team trailed behind Louisiana Tech for the entire game Friday night. One exception came in the second quarter when the crowd of 36,525 erupted in cheers when the Fresno State mascot, Timeout, went toe-to-toe, Bulldog-to-Bulldog with the LA Tech mascot, Champ.

It was a good ol’ brawl with swinging of the arms, drop kicks and takedowns. The action took place near the end zone on the south end of Bulldog Stadium.

But in the end, Timeout came out victorious.

And he didn’t hide his enthusiasm, proceeding to punch the air, dance and wave his arms like Rocky Balboa after Champ was escorted away by a Fresno State official.
