Equestrian takes first at Cal Poly


The Fresno State equestrian team picked up first place finishes in both English and Western in Saturday's Cal Poly Invitational.


Several Bulldogs performed well in the English discipline. In open fences, Amy Simmons placed second and Morgan McDonald finished third.


Leading the Western squad was Heidi Smith, who won the open western horsemanship, followed by Kristen Marchesi (fourth) and Elise Kolpe (fifth).


’Dogs post strong showing at cross country WAC meet


Fresno State had three runners finish among the top 25 of 62 runners at the Western Athletic Conference meet as the team finished fifth in the nine-team field.


Junior Andrea Buckner ran her second-fastest 5K time of the season. Buckner grabbed her first all-conference honor as well by picking up second team honors.


Junior Zinzi Evans ran her second-fastest 5K time of the season to place 21st overall (19:01.6).
