Fresno State endured another scoreless game when they faced the Sacramento State Hornets Sunday. After a 3-0 loss to San Francisco, the Bulldogs fell to the Hornets 1-0, despite having a 14-5 edge in shot attempts.


Junior Cortney Sobrero led all players with six shots and senior Kortney Lewis contributed with five attempts. Six of the Bulldogs’ 14 shot attempts were on goal.


Sacramento State’s Linda Sanchez scored near the post with a shot in the low corner in the 19th minute.


The Hornets, who haven’t won against the Bulldogs since Oct. 8, 1996, came into the match 1-7 all-time against Fresno State.

Late in the second half, senior midfielder Koleen Anderson is illegally held by the Hornets’ Sarah Howard. Sacramento had 16 fouls in the game.

The game was a physical one with 30 fouls, 14 on the Bulldogs and

16 on the Hornets. Four yellow cards were issued, including one to Sobrero.


Junior Angie Larsen started the game for Fresno State and junior Jeannette Paine took over in the 60th minute.


Fresno State continues on the road, playing University of the Pacific on Friday.
