Fresno State vs. Nevada
GAME PREVIEW by EDDIE HUGHES
Bulldogs
Point Guard
Dominique White stepped up to hit some big shots at Tulsa, but the Bulldogs still lost. White finished with 10 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Kevin Bell saw just 12 minutes of time but is expected to start Saturday.
Wing
If Ja’Vance Coleman was in any kind of shooting slump, it ended with his 25-point performance at Tulsa. He hit 5 of 9 3-pointers and grabbed eight rebounds.
Wing
Donovan Morris didn’t get a chance to make much of an impact in 11 minutes against Tulsa. He scored just eight points in two games combined last week. The team will need his shooting Saturday .
Power Forward
Dreike Bouldin’s recent rebounding emphasis has him averaging 7.2 per game. That will be important against Nevada’s big front line.
Center
Mustafa Al-Sayyad leads the Bulldogs with 7.9 rebounds per game and is second in average points with 12.7. His matchup with Kevinn Pinkney is key.
Intangibles
The Bulldogs (11-6, 5-3 WAC) can ill afford a third straight WAC loss. Winning at Nevada will be one of the toughest tasks of the season, but would be huge in the conference race.
Wolf Pack
Point Guard
Freshman Ramon Sessions has been a big part of Nevada’s success this season, averaging 8.8 points and 5.4 assists. It will be a true battle of freshmen with Bell or White facing Sessions. Edge: Wolf Pack
Shooting Guard
Bakersfield native Kyle Shiloh has started every game for the Wolf Pack this season. He could have trouble if he matches up against Coleman. Edge: Bulldogs
Small Forward
Mo Charlo and Jermaine Washington are both big contributors. Charlo is fourth on the team with 8.7 points per game, and Washington is third with 5.4 rebounds. Edge: Even
Power Forward
Nick Fazekas, a 6-foot-11 sophomore, might be the WAC’s best player. He averages 20.5 points and 8.7 rebounds. No one has been able to stop him this season, but containing his production is vital if the Bulldogs are going to win. Edge: Wolf Pack
Center
Senior Kevinn Pinkney came on strong in last season’s NCAA tournament and hasn’t let up since, averaging 13.2 points and 7.6 rebounds. The matchup against Al-Sayyad might reveal who the WAC’s best center is. Edge: Even
Intangibles
Nevada (14-4, 7-1) has lost just one WAC game this season, to a UTEP team the Bulldogs beat. Edge: Even
