Fresno State let an eight-point lead slip away late in a 68-65 loss at Tulsa on Saturday.

It was Tulsa’s first Western Athletic Conference win of the season, as the Hurricane went on a 13-2 run to close the game and improve to 4-12, 1-6 WAC.

Fresno State (11-6, 5-3) led 63-55 with five minutes to go before Tulsa’s surge.

After falling behind 66-63, Fresno State narrowed the deficit to one on a transition dunk by sophomore guard Ja’Vance Coleman, who led all scorers with 25 points.

Tulsa’s Chris Wallace missed a free throw with 19 seconds left, but Oswaldo Gonzalez got the offensive rebound to put the Golden Hurricane back up by three.

Coleman had a chance to send the game to overtime when the Bulldogs got the ball back with about 10 seconds left, but Tulsa’s defense prevented the Bulldogs from getting a shot up.

Coleman was 9 of 17 shooting, 5 of 9 on 3-pointers, and also had eight rebounds.

Senior center Mustafa Al-Sayyad chipped in 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, and senior Dreike Bouldin had 11 points and nine rebounds for Fresno State.

The Hurricane had four players score in double figures, led by senior guard Jarius Glenn’s 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

The Bulldogs outrebounded Tulsa 43-33, but turned the ball over 19 times, compared to 12 by Tulsa.

The Bulldogs have lost two straight on a road trip that sends them to first-place Nevada on Saturday.
