The men’s team also defeated Team Canada in overtime, 2-1. The U.S. won its first gold medal in hockey for the first time since the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York.

Liu added another gold in the women’s free skating event on Feb. 19.
Skier Breanna “Breezy” Johnson took home the first gold medal for the Americans in the women’s downhill event on Feb. 8, beating out German Emma Aicher and Italian Sofia Goggia. It was Johnson’s first career medal.
