The No. 7 Fresno State water polo team concludes Polopalooza by facing off against the No. 12 San Jose State Spartans.
The Spartans, a current Mountain Pacific Sports Federation member, will join the Bulldogs in the Golden Coast Conference next season.
The ‘Dogs come into the final day of competition with a 2-1 record. On Friday, the Bulldogs defeated the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines 11-9, Attacker Hailey Andress led the ‘Dogs in scoring, potting three goals in the winning effort. Freshman goalie Katelyn Mobley made eight saves in her Fresno State debut.
On Saturday, the ‘Dogs split a doubleheader against the No. 10 Indiana Hoosiers and the No. 8 University of California, Irvine Anteaters.
In game one, the ‘Dogs dropped a heartbreaking one-goal loss to the Hoosiers. Freshman Riaan Bryant recorded her first hat trick with the Bulldogs. Hoosier goalie Jasmine Higgs was able to stymie the Bulldogs’ offense, making 11 saves in the winning effort.
In game two, the ‘Dogs handled the Anteaters 15-12. While the ‘Dogs led 11-4 at halftime, the seven-goal margin was too much for the Anteaters to overcome. Andress potted five goals to lead the Bulldogs to a victory.
First sprint for the ‘Dogs and Spartans is set for 11 a.m.
