Major changes are on the way for Fashion Fair Mall, one of Fresno’s most well-known shopping destinations.
Mall officials announced a multi-year renovation project set to begin in Spring 2026 that aims to modernize key areas of the center and enhance the overall guest experience.
The renovation plans include updates to both interior and exterior spaces throughout the mall. Improvements are expected to feature updated restrooms, modern lighting, enhanced seating areas, refreshed flooring and landscaping and new lounge and gathering spaces designed to make the mall more welcoming and comfortable for visitors.
A central focus of the project is the transformation of the Outdoor Village, a prominent open-air area of the mall that will be reimagined with contemporary design elements, natural shading and additional seating meant to encourage community gatherings and everyday visits.
Officials say the upgrades build on recent enhancements already completed, including improvements to lighting, renovated bathrooms and expanded lounging areas.
As the mall continues to evolve, many community members have shared mixed feelings about both its current environment and the planned changes.
Fresno resident Melinda Morales said she welcomed the renovations, calling them long overdue.
“I love that we’re finally getting some renovations,” Morales said. “The mall definitely needed a facelift, and I feel like it’s happening at the perfect time.”
Morales hopes the upgrades bring both practical improvements and new retail options not currently available in the Fresno area, adding that the changes could elevate the mall’s status as a regional shopping destination.
“These upgrades will definitely improve our shopping experience,” Morales said. “Fashion Fair Mall is one of the major shopping areas Fresno and Clovis residents go to besides River Park.”
However, others commenting on Fashion Fair Mall’s Instagram post about the updates raised concerns about safety and the mall’s overall atmosphere.
Some community members said they hope the renovations prioritize safety, with one commenter emphasizing the need for a safer environment for families and another questioning whether the upgrades would address concerns about fights or other disturbances.
As renovations move forward, community members said they hope the changes improve both the mall’s appearance and overall sense of safety.
The renovations are expected to be completed by 2028.
