The Collegian has obtained exclusive information regarding one of the three reports of antisemitic vandalism that Jiménez-Sandoval addressed in a campus-wide email on Monday.
One of the persons who filed a report reached out to The Collegian with information on the condition that they would remain anonymous.
The individual reported on Dec. 2 that one of the vandalism sites was a light pole near the P30 parking lot. On it, the source said there was a swastika drawn.
“There was no other writing, and it was a clear drawing of a swastika,” the person said.
It has since been scrubbed off.
The Collegian submitted a public records request and will continue to investigate the situation.

In a campuswide email from Campus Communications on Dec. 15, Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval addressed reports of antisemitic vandalism on campus.
According to the email, Fresno State has received three reports of antisemitic campus property defacement. Details, however, are limited due to the ongoing investigation.
“I want to tell you that these serious incidents are being addressed collectively, not as isolated reports, because they occurred within a short timeframe and reflect related acts of hate-based vandalism,” Jiménez-Sandoval said.
Jiménez-Sandoval said multiple facets of the Multi-Disciplinary Team were convened when the reports were received, and the graffiti was removed immediately.
He also addressed the recent shootings that occurred, both the shooting at Brown University and in Australia on the first day of Hanukkah, which was named a terrorist attack on the Jewish community.
“We grieve alongside them, and repudiate such senseless acts of violence; we further recognize how acts of hate and violence, near or far, can reverberate within our own community,” Jiménez-Sandoval said.
Jiménez-Sandoval declared that hate and violence have no place on campus and urged community members to reach out if they observe concerning behavior.

A lack of education in History and Geography in K-12education and continuing into university has created a generation or 2 of adults that do not know their own history nor the histories of the world’s population with which they share the globe. They will force destruction to one day wake up to their lamentable creation. Sad

I will never understand how someone who has never met a person, never been hurt by this person, and most likely never will be, can have so much anger and irrational hate that they lash out at their innocent victim.
It’s tragic that these twisted individuals are in so much pain, for whatever reason, that they spread hate and fear through society, rather than focusing on themselves, attempting to fix what is obviously seriously wrong in their lives. Their problems, the inability to take responsibility for themselves, insecurities, lack of knowledge… Whatever their issues are, it’s a choice to be enraged, bitter, wrathful, etc… taking all of their pent-up frustration and brutality out on people they’ve never come into contact with nor ever will. Regarding a situation they can’t be bothered to learn about. Maybe instead of spending time spreading ignorance and hatred, they could use that time to focus on being a better person. It really is a choice to be happy or miserable. One day I hope these tormented individuals find a way towards peace.
