ASI presents tobacco ban resolution to Welty

Just before Thanksgiving, ASI senators passed a bill that urges Fresno State President John Welty to create a tobacco-free campus. The resolution came with a bit of controversy, though, as ASI president Selena Farnesi did not sign or endorse the bill.

Dear editor: This letter is for ASI president Selena Farnesi, but first I must disclose some things. I have never smoked a cigarette and no one on our executive board smokes. Additionally, I have never received any money or gifts from “big tobacco” and for that matter I don’t even know anyone or have met anyone who works in the tobacco industry, big or small.

The old saying “spring forward, fall back” is a reminder of how Daylight Saving Time changes our clocks twice a year. When Daylight Saving Time begins in the spring, clocks are turned an hour forward, shifting an hour of sunlight from morning to evening.
