In 2010, the city of Fresno was ranked as the drunkest city in America. With that honor tightly concealed under our belts, the bar scene around Fresno is vibrant with a mix of pubs, sport bars, and clubs for young adults.

Students may see a $34 parking permit increase to $102 a semester starting fall 2012. In 2009, Associated Students, Inc. passed a referendum that would allow for a parking pass increase after a parking garage was built.

Saturday night, kinesiology major Carson Souza and classmate Zac Vanasen decided to walk home but had no idea they were about to become the latest statistic in off-campus violence. Souza said he and Vanasen were walking along Bulldog Lane toward Cedar Avenue when a white Chevy Malibu started to follow them.
While steel security fences at some Fresno State sorority houses do their part to ensure members’ safety, a group of Greek life students and neighboring members in Fresno’s “Sin City” area are taking further measures to ensure a healthy, safe living environment.
Numerous controversies have surrounded smoking policies on the Fresno State campus. A group known as Project IMPACT has attempted to make the Fresno State campus smoke-free in the past, as well as attempting to pass legislation to require retailers obtain licensure for tobacco products, similar to the licensing requirements to sell alcohol.
The reports of on-campus scams that surfaced at the tail end of the fall semester were once again brought to the University Police Department’s attention during the initial days of the spring.
Heavy traffic is expected around campus during the first week of the semester. Caltrans has announced that the westbound Highway 168 off-ramp at Shaw Avenue will be closed Wednesday and Thursday (Jan. 18-19) from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
