Department stores suffer losses in revenue

From tacos and coffee, to spaghetti and buffalo wings, there are numerous menu items and multiple outlets to eat at, both on and off campus. It all depends on what a student is in the mood for. On campus, there are a number of places that students can go to satisfy those inevitable hunger pangs. The University Student Union (USU) is probably the most known and visited location. The USU food court offers students the choice of eating at Subway, Panda Express or the newly added Chick-fil-A.

Students are becoming more concerned about their health and what they are eating. The Wellness Challenge that launched earlier this year at Fresno State helps students recognize healthier choice of a meal. There are visible Wellness Challenge recommendations on Subway̢۪s menu in the University Student Union food court, for just one example.

Survey from the Office of the President asks campus for advice

The Office of the President concluded a five-year administrative program review on October 26 to evaluate the services the office provides to members of the campus community. Michelle Nelson, who manages the Office of the President, said the purpose of the survey was to get feedback on services needed and how to better communicate with faculty, staff and students.

Study finds that veterans are a quarter of the homeless population

WASHINGTON - Lonnie Bowen Jr. was once a social worker, but for 17 years the Vietnam war veteran has slept on the streets off and on as he’s battled substance and mental health problems. “It’s been a hard struggle,â€Â said Bowen, 62, at a homeless processing center in downtown Philadelphia, where he planned to seek help for his drug and alcohol problem.

University beefs up grade security in response to computer system hack attack by students

Most students appeal to the student Academic Petitions Committee to contest a grade, yet in 2005, some Fresno State students took a different approach — they hacked into the system. After those students hacked into Fresno State’s system and made unauthorized grade changes, the university improved its security measures and increased the checks and balances in place to prevent that scenario from happening again.
