Free depression screening offered to students

It can become difficult to distinguish whether negative feelings are simply the result of a little extra pressure in life, or if there is something more serious going on, like clinical depression.

While seeking an education in a foreign land, international students also have to pay many times more money than most students in order to attend, while also abiding by a myriad of government restrictions on their activities in the United States, which is tied to a clampdown on immigration generally.

‘Green’ housing community launches

There’s a movement going on in northeast Fresno with the goal of creating a place that resembles the safe communities of decades ago, and some Fresno State staff are hoping to be a part of it. La Querencia, Fresno’s first cohousing community, is a project that is looking to provide an “intergenerational, earth-friendly neighborhood based on simple-living values.â€Â Four Fresno State professors and administrators are involved with the project that is aimed for completion in the late summer of 2008.

Wellness Carnival places emphasis on alcohol

Wellness Services will be putting on the Wicked Wellness Carnival on Thursday. Starting at 10 a.m., students will have the opportunity to participate in numerous “safeâ€Â activities, including paying a dollar to dunk a professor. Proceeds from the anti-drinking-themed event will benefit Alcoholics Anonymous.

Milutinovich lawsuit settled out of court

A three-year-old lawsuit filed against Fresno State by a former associate athletic director came to a close Thursday when an out-of-court settlement was announced in the amount of $3.5 million. Diane Milutinovich, whose gender discrimination trial was set to start this month, agreed to the settlement.

California DREAM Act vetoed
