Lady 'Dogs tie for 3rd; wrestling joins WWC

The Fresno State women’s golf team tied for third place in the WAC Championships in San Jose, Wednesday.
Jennifer Shipley led Fresno State’s efforts, earning her fourth top-10 finish of the year with a seventh-place finish.
She finished four shots behind champion Jenelle Gomez of San Jose State.
Laura Luethke and Adrianna Chico tied for 14th place and Brittany Cooley tied for 29th.
San Jose State won the team title while New Mexico finished in second.
Luethke was also named to the first-team all-WAC while Shipley was named to the second-team all-WAC.
Wrestling
Eight institutions have announced the formation of a new wrestling conference.
The Division I teams in the Western Wresting Conference (WWC), including Fresno State, will begin competing in the 2006-2007 season. According to organizers, the goal of the new league is to replace the West Regional as the NCAA qualifier for the schools.
