The Bulldog women’s softball team was defeated by 11th-ranked Arizona State in the consolation semifinals of the Judi Garman Softball Classic last weekend.


The Bulldogs scored their only run of the game in the sixth inning with a double from sophomore Kristen Sylvester on a two-out at bat.


Fresno State resorted to three pitchers over the course of the game. Starter Merryann Barr held the Sun to zero hits in the first two innings of play but gave up five runs in the third.


She was replaced by sophomore Amanda Nesbitt who have up two more runs before getting out of the inning.


Freshman Robin Machin pitched the final innings of the game, giving up five hits and one more run, making the final score 8-1.


The No. 24 ranked Bulldogs will next host the Nevada Wolf Pack at home on Friday before playing a double header on Saturday.
