It was not so long ago when the Fresno State baseball team was sitting at a sub-.500 record.
As of today, the Bulldogs are now at 17-8 and the benefactors of a 10-game winning streak. The latest victory is a 6-1 win over Pac-10 member Washington State.
The Bulldogs have received top-notch starts from their big three pitchers during the streak, and the bullpen is becoming increasingly reliable.
Bulldog pitchers Doug Fister, Eddie Romero and Andy Underwood are now a combined 12-6, with the highest ERA between the three only 3.15. That belongs to Romero, who also has five wins to his credit this season.
The return of Brandon Miller and the consistency of both Jason Breckley and Brandon Burke have allowed the Bulldogs to nail down wins with relative ease.
During the Pepsi-Johnny Quik tournament this week, Fresno State has earned victories over Miami (Ohio), Gonzaga, Binghamton and Washington State.
The Bulldogs (17-8) defeated the Cougars (17-5) after putting together a 5-run eighth inning, capped off by a Brian Lapin pinch-hit, bases clearing double.
Brandon Burke picked up the win for the Bulldogs with Doug Fister coming in to shut down the Cougars in the ninth inning.
Fresno State is now 4-0 in tournament play, with games against Bucknell and Lafayette to be played Friday and Saturday, respectively.
