The pattern is pretty evident.

The first game, a run or two will do, the second game however, Fresno State had better hope the days batting practice pays off.

The Bulldogs (4–3) took one of two games from the visiting Pacific Tigers (2–2) in Fresno State’s double-header, Tuesday night.

After struggling in her first outing of the season, freshman Robin Mackin has won her last three. With a seven-inning complete game shutout and a 2–0 Fresno State victory, Mackin’s record moves to 3–1 while allowing only three hits and striking out 11.

But the theme for the Bulldog softball program has been win the first game … and maybe the second one.

The pattern has carried over from season to season, and once again looks to be the theme for 2006.

Christina Clark

As expected, Mackin owned the Tigers in game one of the opener, while the usual suspect Christina Clark did the offensive damage for the Bulldogs. Clark went 3 for 3 with the game's lone RBI.

The second game of double-headers for the Bulldogs often time winds up being a slug-fest. Usually, that is where the Bulldogs receive most of their losses, but Fresno State came out the victor in Tuesday's game two showdown.

A three-run sixth inning capped a 6–5 victory for the Bulldogs, with Mackin earning the win in relief.

The game featured 18 total hits, with both the Tigers and Bulldogs collecting nine hits a piece. Fresno State's Ashley White led the Bulldogs with two RBIs.
