AS announces vacancies
Associated Students has announced vacancies on the Student Senate after four senators failed to return this semester.
The open senate positions were created after four senators were removed from office for academic reasons such as grades and insufficient units.
“We gave all four senators a deadline, after that we officially considered them not a part of the senate” Juan Pablo Moncayo Executive Vice-President said.
The four senate positions, left vacant are: Arts and Humanities, Heath and Human Services, Social Sciences and Student Clubs and Organization Senator-at-Large.
Multiple other at-large offices also needs to be filled. as well as other committee and election commission positions.
At this point in the semester, AS president Jennifer Reimer needs to recommend people for the open positions, according to the AS by-laws.
Approximately 18 people applied to Reimer. If the applicants are not chosen for a recommendation they can apply to the Personnel Committee for other open positions in AS.
At the Student Senate meeting one of the first orders of business will be to vote on President Reimer’s recommendations. If approved by the Senate the new senators will take office immediately.
