One of college football’s top offenses has a new captain.

He also seems to have attended the Pat Hill school of football philosophy with talk of getting into a Bowl Championship Series game and taking the Fresno State program to higher levels.

It’s time for Bulldog fans to get acquainted with Fresno State’s new offensive coordinator, Steve Hagan. Just like Hill, Hagan also has aspirations of achieving consistent national exposure.

“Like coach Hill said, play anybody, anytime, anywhere,” Hagan said. “And get into a BCS game.”

Fans and opponents shouldn't be caught too off-guard with Hagan's play-calling, as he likens it to someone Bulldog fans are familiar with—last season's offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti.

"I think Frank ran a very comprehensive pro-style offense. I think he did a fantastic job and we'll pick up from where he left off and continue that forward," Hagan said.

Most recently, Hagan served as the quarterbacks and tight end coach for the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns, where he coached quarterbacks Kelly Holcomb and Jeff Garcia.

That experience may be something Fresno State players may want to learn from, as many have NFL aspirations of their own.

"If you want to play at that level, this is the kind of style of football that you need to play, practice and work at," Hagan said.

And for those of you into quarterback controversies, Hagan is definitely not against it.

"Oh yeah, because I don't know any of them," Hagan said. "It's wide open. Let's rock and roll."
