Volleyball ends on sour note


The Bulldogs ended their season in four games to the Broncos. They won the first game 30-27, but lost the following three games, 19-30, 23-30, 18-30.


Fresno State finished its season with a 7-20 overall record, and now heads into the Western Conference Athletic tournament seeded No. 7. The Bulldogs will travel to Reno next week for the WAC tourney and will play either Mexico State or Utah State.

Women’s basketball starts season


Senior forward Amy Parrish returned to action against Cal Poly, helping the Bulldogs earn a 93-84 victory in the season opener on Thursday. Parrish, who did not participate in the women’s two exhibition games due to a hamstring injury, led in scoring with 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Junior Paige Diggs followed closely with 18 points, including making 12 out of 13 free throws.


The Bulldogs will play Texas Southern today in the home opener in the Save Mart Center at 7 p.m.

New wrestling coach unveils team


To open its first official season under coach Shawn Charles, the Bulldogs competed on Saturday in the Fullerton Open, one of the largest tournaments in the country.


Cody Parker led Fresno State by finishing second in the heavyweight division. Overall, 10 Bulldogs placed in the day-long tournament.
