Women’s Golf takes fourth in Nevada


Fresno State landed a fourth place finish at the Wolf Pac Invitation on Wednesday and placed three of its own in the top 25. The Bulldogs finished behind San Jose State, Nevada and Boise State, respectively.


Sophomore Laura Luethke led the Bulldogs with an overall fifth place finish. Freshman Taylor Siebert tied for 11th and freshman Jennifer Shipley came in 24th. Senior Meggie Fagundes tied for 31st and senior Yumi Chung placed 43rd.


The Bulldogs will compete in the Heather Farr/University of Colorado Memorial next week.

Men’s Golf finishes 11th at Nevada Wolf Pack Classic


The Bulldogs improved its scored in each of the four rounds at the Wolf Pack Classic to finish 11th.

Fresno State also placed one golfer in the top 10. Nevada won the team title and New Mexico State and Arkansas came in second and third, respectively.


Jon Rosa shot a 5-under 67 in the third round to finish ninth. Ryan McDonald placed 52nd and both Jason Anthony and Mark Modglin tied for 62nd. Brian Ward finished 97th.


Next up for Fresno State is the Alister Mackenzie Invitational Oct. 10-11.

Volleyball loses conference opener


The Bulldogs took the New Mexico State Aggies to a four-game match, but lost 30-27, 20-30, 15-30, 20-30. The Aggies, newcomers to the WAC, broke a two-game losing streak with a win over the Bulldogs.


Next, Fresno State will face Louisiana Tech, a team that has not won since entering conference play.

Jakub Cech will play in All-American tennis championships


Junior Jakub Cech has been invited to the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., October 3-9. Cech, accompanied by head coach Jay Udwadia for the event, participates first in the Qualifiers Oct. 3-5 and with three victories, would move on to the main draw.
