Students Sound Off!

Did President Bush do the right thing in bypassing the Senate and appointing John Bolton as ambassador to the U.N.?

Yet again the leftists on the Senate judiciary committee have found another reason to blast President Bush for acting completely within his authority. It seems the only thing the Democratic Party is good for these days is being contrary.

The Senate Democrats are complaining about the nomination of John Bolton to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations only because they weren’t first given the opportunity to annihilate Bolton’s character and drag his name through the mud. And why weren’t they given the opportunity to do this? Well, they were on vacation. So while the senators were sipping high balls and playing golf in Bermuda, Bush was in action.

After all, this seems the only way the president can get anything done anyway. Had the nomination not been handled in this manner, Bolton’s fate would be stuck in the Senate for the next nine months while the Democrats dig up every 40-year-old scrap of frivolous information that might discredit this otherwise honorable man.

Cheers to you Mr. President.

Making John Bolton the new American ambassador to the United Nations is just another way for Bush and his puppet masters to show off their power.

By completely bypassing the vote against Bolton in Senate, Bush has put in an anti-peace, anti-diplomat to advocate for the United States, which is much like asking a fox to guard a hen house.

Bolton doesn’t even have respect for the United Nations and has been quoted as saying, “There is no such thing as the United Nations...if the U.N. building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference.” Such an attitude wouldn’t fly at McDonald’s, let alone at the United Nations
Bush has once again made it clear to everyone in the United Nations, Senate, and the world that he doesn’t care about what they think.
