Janka; Holocaust drama plays Saturday

By NYRIE KARKAZIAN

One woman's story about her will to survive Nazi persecution and desire to find the American dream will be presented at Fresno State in the Satellite Student Union, at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

This affectionate play called “Janka: One Minute of Perfect Happiness” was written and produced by Oscar Speace, an Emmy-winning television producer, writer and director.

Speace based his one-character show on a letter written by his mother, Janka Festinger, during her liberation from a WWII Nazi concentration camp.

Fresno State alumnus Janice Noga, nationally-acclaimed actress and singer, stars in the play. She is known for her ability to captivate audiences with her beautiful voice and flair to tell a story. Noga, who is married to Speace, has performed in many concerts across the country and internationally.

Admission is $5 for the general public and free to Fresno State students with an I.D. Tickets for Janka are available at the University Student Union information center.
