Register today with Associated Students to receive free legal advice from local attorneys.

The Associated Students’ legal committee organized Legal Service Day to offer students one-on-one counseling with legal professionals.

“This event gives students a chance to ask questions about their rights in various legal situations,” said Matt Feeser, an Associated Students senator.

Feeser, a member of the AS legal committee, said last year’s committee organized a legal service day for students and thought this would be a good tradition to continue.

“In deciding how we could best spend our time as a legal committee, we looked over what past years’ committees had accomplished,” he said “Last year’s event got a lot of positive feedback.”

Feeser said that at the beginning of the school year, Associated Students received numerous calls asking when the university would hold the next Legal Service Day.

“We are simply giving the students what they have requested,” he said.

Feeser said students ask about common issues such as housing, renting, landlords and civil disputes.

Feeser said the return of Legal Service Day next year will be up to the legal committee and AS.

“I'm sure it will depend on student response and overall turnout to the event, this year,” he said.

Feeser said attorneys participating this year include Doug Gordon and Richard Watters from Miles, Sears & Eanni.

Interested students should sign up with AS for a free 15-minute legal consultation period.

For more info, call AS at 278-2656 or visit the AS office in USU, Room 316.

Legal consultations will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
