Letter to the Editor
Karkazian and Nielsen's Monday column could have been useful or at least
interesting based on the headline, “Dating for dummies, what not
to say.”
Instead they just used it to make fun of men in general.
It may have been mildly funny, but I doubt any guy has said any of those
things on a date without anticipating some serious female-dog-jitsu.
By the time I got to the end of the column, I was expecting to see something
resembling "you sure don't sweat much for a fat chick" as part
of the advice.
Aw, man, I was going to say that!
I know (hope) the article was written for fun, but I doubt too many men
appreciated the teasing.
I think it's almost safe to say that most women don't even know what they
like, anyway, and maybe that's why this column took two writers to dish
out completely useless advice to people they expect to pamper them all
day.
I thought Monday's picture phone feature was a well-written story, but
I have a few big problems with it.
Why are picture phones a necessity again? Why is there a picture of a
Motorola phone right on the front of the features page?
I doubt Motorola would pay The Collegian to run an ad since they hardly
need help luring college students, but it still gives the portrayal of
outside influence.
This definitely was a blow to The Collegian's credibility in this reader's
opinion.
