Renewable energy car to visit campus

The Rolling Sunlight Tour will stop at Fresno State on March 10 for an evening with a message, music, and a movie using only renewable energy.
RenewCSU and Campus Peace is hosting the tour in a statewide student campaign to bring the message of using renewable energy sources to CSUs.
“On-site renewable energy sources is really the smartest thing to do,” said Glen Tozier, a RenewCSU member.
Tozier said many CSUs including Humboldt, Chico and San Diego have developed “on-site sources” for each campus.
San Diego State did not have to pay for the energy sources, instead the CSU pays for only the energy used.
“It makes sense to use the renewable energy resources that we have here at Fresno State,” Tozier said.
“We need to use this technology that is available to us.”
Khara Matcham, a RenewCSU member, said the group has been working to create a “strong clean energy policy” for Fresno State by the summer of 2005. The RenewCSU campaign is trying to get Fresno State to use clean energy sources such as solar panels on top of buildings and wind energy.
The Rolling Sunlight Tour truck that will provide the clean energy used for the event. The truck is a biodiesel-feuled vehicle outfitted with solar panels and an onboard energy storage facility that stores enough energy for four homes to run on efficiently.
The tour event will feature DJ Papa Paz spinning afro-beats, hip-hop, and world music. The movie, “Fourth World War” will be shown highlighting current events, war and energy information.
