Fresno State’s women’s tennis team is ranked No. 22 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, released Tuesday.


The men’s team is 54th.


The women’s team (1-0) beat Santa Clara 6-1 in the opener on Jan. 22. The Bulldogs travel to take on No. 67 UC-Irvine on Friday and No. 11 UCLA on Saturday.


The men’s team (4-1) lost to No. 7 Stanford 5-2 on Feb. 5 and returns to action with a home match against No. 58 Old Dominion on Saturday.

 

National Girls & Women in Sports Day


Fresno State will celebrate the 19th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day on Saturday at the Bulldogs women’s basketball game at the Save Mart Center.


The Fresno State women’s sports teams are scheduled to sign autographs in the northeast and northwest corners of the arena before the tipoff of Fresno State’s game against Boise State at 4 p.m.


This year’s national theme is, “More Than a Game.” There will also be prizes, interactive events and a nutrition booth.


Fans who attend the game will receive 2-for-1 admission or can purchase $2 tickets for a group of 10 or more.


The featured guest will be three-time world-champion boxer Jenifer Alcorn.

 

Men’s golf in Hawaii for tournament


The men’s golf team begins play in the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate at 6:45 a.m. today in Waikoloa, Hawaii.


The tournament, hosted by Hawaii-Hilo, also includes Oklahoma State, UCLA and USC. The three-day tournament concludes on Friday.


Fresno State finished in 10th place at the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate last week. The Bulldogs finished 11-over par, with first-place New Mexico finishing 12-under.


Bulldogs junior Jason Anthony (73-71-72-216) tied for 25th individually, at 3-over. Arizona State’s Alejandro Canizares (65-66-71-202) won the individual title.
