A series of protests opposing Congressman Vince Fong is taking place at the southeast corner of Herndon and Clovis avenues in Clovis.
According to the social media post, protests have already been held on Jan. 20, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17, with additional protests scheduled from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on March 3 and March 17.Â
A protest was also scheduled for Feb. 17, but protesters were not present. The absence appeared to be due to the weather, though there was no confirmation explaining the lack of protesters.
The events are part of a continuing effort held on alternate Tuesdays at the same location.
Participants are expected to gather along the intersection holding signs so their messages are visible to passing drivers. The flyer describes the protests as an effort to provide community members with a public space to express their views. Organizers say that the protests are intended to give residents an opportunity to publicly voice opposition to Congressman Vince Fong and draw attention to concerns about his positions and policies. Â
The protest site is at a busy intersection in Clovis, making it visible to passing drivers throughout the day. Organizers selected this location because of its high traffic volume, which allows participants to display their message to a large group of commuters.  Â
Organizers have not announced whether additional dates beyond March are planned. The flyer frames the protests as part of an ongoing effort by the community to oppose Fong’s positions.Â
