In a first draft of the cult classic film “Kill Bill,” writer and filmmaker Quentin Tarantino wrote a sequence that, at the time, was too much to produce.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he referred to the scene as “too crazy” and having “too much action.” However, years after both volumes had been released, the scene has found a permanent home in Fortnite.
The Epic Games team invited Tarantino to sit down and discuss possible business opportunities. He assumed this was just an intellectual property meeting, but Epic Games had envisioned around 12 minutes of the director’s unique flair to be made into a short film with their own animated style in mind.

Actress Uma Thurman reprises her role as The Bride, and Miyu Ishidate Roberts, the fictional counterpart to Gogo Yubari from the original film, voices Yuki Yubari, the revenge-fueled twin sister of Gogo. Tarantino himself voices the character of Bill, as he gives Yuki directions before heading to Los Angeles to avenge her sister.
Epic Games’ Unreal Engine helped bring Tarantino’s vision to life using motion capture of the original actors with eerily familiar accuracy. The film itself flows naturally along the Fortnite universe, although wacky characters like Peely, the beloved Fortnite banana, still make appearances, providing balance to Tarantino’s dark appeal.
The classic tropes of Tarantino’s direction, including trunk shots and extreme close-ups supported by stylized, glorified violence, feel right at home in the multi-dimensional realm of Fortnite. A shock came to viewers of the short film as a section of dialogue involved curse words, something generally only heard through voice chat or licensed in-game music.
“Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair,” a new director’s cut of the first two films, will come to select theaters and include The Lost Chapter during select screenings.

Tarantino took “Kill Bill” Vols. 1 and 2 and refined them into a more cohesive story, forged within his will for “The Whole Bloody Affair” release. He changed certain pacing elements, adding and removing certain scenes to achieve something fresh but familiar.
Players can still see the short film for free in Fortnite for a limited time. The Bride will be immortalized within the game, as the character serves as the opening reward for the Chapter 7 battle pass.
Players who logged in before Nov. 28 through Dec. 1 received a free Yuki Yubari skin, and players who purchased tickets to “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” between Nov. 20 and Nov. 29 received a Gogo Yubari skin that is no longer available.
Correction: This story was updated on Dec. 6 at 9:08 p.m. to properly name the actors.
