The Fresno State women’s soccer team and Athletic Director, Garrett Klassy, announced Gabriel Bolton as the fifth head coach in program history on Dec. 24.

Bolton comes to Fresno State after a long tenure with the Stanislaus State Warriors, where he went 223-123-48 in 21 seasons as the head coach. He also had a brief stint at the University of Utah as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2002-04.

In his 21-year tenure with the Warrirors, Bolton won three California Collegiate Athletic Association Conference (CCAA) championships, made the CCAA tournament 11 times and made the NCAA tournament four times.

In 2025, Bolton led the Warrirors to an 11-5-4 record and finished third in the CCAA.

His best season was in 2013, when he led the Warriors to an undefeated season, going 14-0-2. The Warrirors became the first CCAA team to go undefeated and win a conference championship. The Warriors ultimately lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to the California State University, San Bernardino Coyotes.

With the University of Utah, Bolton helped lead the Utes to a 42-12-8, winning the Mountain West Conference in back-to-back seasons. The program was ranked nationally in the top-25 in all three seasons that Bolton was there.

Bolton succeeds Brian Zwaschka, who led the Bulldogs for 17 seasons. He will be tasked with guiding the Bulldogs through their switch to the Pac-12 in 2026.
