Fresno State is holding the Grad Programs Exploration and Recruitment Fair on Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens. The fair is being coordinated by the Career Development Center and the Division of Research and Graduate Studies.
Representatives for graduate programs will be participating in the fair, including programs offered outside of Fresno State.
The fair gives students the opportunity to explore options for their career path. Coordinators want students to understand the variety of programs and opportunities the event has to offer, according to Mary Willis, director of the Career Development Center.
“Students aren’t always aware that we have some really great graduate programs here at Fresno State,” Willis said. “If they were choosing to continue their education, we have some great options for them right here.”
The fair first began in Spring 2023 to promote the graduate schools at Fresno State. Fresno State has hosted two fairs every academic year since then.
Representatives from 19-20 grad schools will be participating in the fair, according to Willis. Programs offered outside of Fresno State will also be represented at the fair, including the San Joaquin College of Law and the California Health Sciences University in Clovis.
According to Willis, the outsider programs are recent additions to the event. Some students expressed praise for the fair’s ability to offer opportunities for varying studies and majors.
“The school is very diverse in particular subjects and what people study,” said Gabriel Cortez, a freshman majoring in computer science. “I think it’s good to have a diverse amount of different opportunities for those majors.”
Some graduating students said they are also excited about the options to explore at the fair.
“I haven’t learned much about other schools, so it definitely sounds like something I’d be interested in,” said Audrey Kohls, a senior majoring in speech-language pathology.
Fresno State will host the next Grad Programs Exploration and Recruitment Fair in Spring 2026.
