The enchanted love story continues as she rides on her white horse.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement on Tuesday morning. The post received more than 18 million likes within four hours, quickly becoming one of the most-liked engagement announcements in recent social media history.
Fans flooded the comments with congratulations, heart and ring emojis and heartfelt messages, many expressing excitement over the fairytale-like pairing of two icons from entirely different worlds—music and sports.
The engagement comes after nearly two years of dating in the public eye. The couple’s relationship began in 2023, after Kelce mentioned Swift during a July episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, former NFL center Jason Kelce.
Before they started dating, Kelce said on another episode that he went to Swift’s concert at Arrow Head Stadium, where the Chiefs play, and wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it, but never got the chance.
“This podcast got me a boyfriend,” Swift said on a recent episode, referring to that episode of his podcast.
During the interview, she also announced her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Swift made her first public appearance at one of Kelce’s games in September 2023, when the Kansas City Chiefs played the Chicago Bears. Kelce recorded seven receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown, but it was Swift’s appearance in the stands that captured national attention.
Since then, the couple has been frequently seen together, both at games and in public events, often trending across social media.
The engagement marks a new chapter in the high-profile relationship between one of music’s biggest global stars and one of football’s most recognizable athletes. But the engagement goes beyond the sports world.
Businesses like Krispy Kreme and Ralph Lauren are offering deals to celebrate the engagement.
Krispy Kreme is offering free, original glazed donuts at participating locations today only from 5-7 p.m., and Ralph Lauren is offering the striped dress Swift wore in her engagement pictures, priced at around $398, discounted to $312, immediately after the post.
