Parking lot P20 now has 140 spaces available for students for the first time in four years.
The parking lot is located across the street from the Grosse Industrial Tech building on Barstow Avenue and was partially closed in 2021 to students to serve as a “construction laydown area,” according to Derek Brantley, Fresno State’s parking and transportation manager.
In an email provided to the Collegian, Brantley said that all spaces that were closed are now open and ready for students.
This designated space was essential for staging materials and equipment for the Central Utility Plant Replacement Project (CUPR), Brantley explained.
According to a Collegian article published in January, the CUPR project upgraded the old boiler and chiller plants, along with a hot and chilled water distribution system, improving energy efficiency for the university.
The project also included building improvements to the campus, such as HVAC, lighting and water system upgrades. Additionally, solar panels were installed over parking lots P5 and P6 to generate clean energy for the campus.
Students looking to park on campus for the upcoming semester can buy their parking pass online through Fresno State’s website for $93.
